How To Support Football v Homophobia Month of Action 2025

Lincolnshire FA is proud to once again support the Football v Homophobia (FvH) Month of Action this February.

Lincolnshire FA is proud to support the Football v Homophobia (FvH) Month of Action this February, reaffirming our commitment to making football an inclusive space for all.

About Football v Homophobia

Football v Homophobia, now in its 15th year, is an initiative delivered by Pride Sports UK that aims to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender expression, and gender identity at all levels of football. Through education, resources, and awareness-raising, the campaign works to create a welcoming environment where everyone can thrive in the game.

Every February, clubs, leagues, fan groups, and organisations are invited to register as FvH Champions, taking a stand against discrimination and demonstrating their support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in football.

The Importance of This Campaign

The FA’s recently published Grassroots Disciplinary Review has highlighted a 20% increase in reports of anti-gay language and behaviour in matches at Steps 5 and below. Additionally, more proven charges of homophobia were recorded at the grassroots level than for any other type of discrimination.

Meanwhile, Kick It Out data released last year revealed that anti-LGBTQ+ hate related to football continues to rise online. Alarmingly, reports of transphobia online have surged by 183%, reinforcing the urgent need for action.

Join Us in Championing Inclusion

Football v Homophobia was originally conceived and launched in 2010 by the Justin Campaign in memory of Justin Fashanu, the first openly gay professional footballer. Today, the campaign is a powerful force for change in football, encouraging clubs and organisations to take proactive steps in tackling discrimination.

Lincolnshire FA is committed to creating a safer and more inclusive footballing environment for all. We invite clubs, players, coaches, and supporters to take part in this year’s Football v Homophobia Month of Action and be part of the movement toward positive change.
