Lincolnshire FA delivered a successful Over 35s football tournament on Friday 4th October in Gainsborough, with over 80 players from across the county taking part.

The event, part of an ongoing development programme, is the first of many planned tournaments and events aimed at growing opportunities for over 35s football across Lincolnshire.

The tournament saw teams split into two groups, competing in a round-robin format. After an exciting day of football, Real Unfitdads and Bottesford Town Poachers Yellow met in the final, with Real Unfitdads emerging victorious thanks to an outstanding team performance. Bottesford Town Poachers Yellow secured the runner-up spot, while The Nettles claimed third place after a competitive play-off against Bottesford Town Poachers Blue, who finished fourth.Over 35's

Congratulations to Real Unfitdads on their well-deserved win, and a huge thank you to all the teams for their participation and sportsmanship throughout the day. This tournament marks an important step in Lincolnshire FA’s commitment to developing football for players aged 35 and over, providing more opportunities for players to continue enjoying the game in a format that suits them.

Aiming to Grow Over 35s Football in Lincolnshire

Luke Craggs, Football Development Officer at Lincolnshire FA, who led the delivery of the tournament, expressed his enthusiasm for the event:
“It was great to see so many teams attend and get involved. I know this is an area with limited opportunities, so it’s something I’m really keen to support. This was a fantastic first step.”

Tom Padden, Football Development Manager, who also supported the event, added:Over 35's
“We are committed to creating opportunities for everyone across the county to access a format of football they can enjoy. We aim to ensure that all offerings are sustainable and accessible for as many players as possible. The strong turnout for this tournament shows a real appetite for over 35s football, and I’m excited to see even more opportunities develop in the future.”

This tournament is just the beginning, as Lincolnshire FA plans to work closely with players and stakeholders to further enhance the availability of football for over 35s across the county. Stay tuned for more tournaments and events in the near future!
