2024 Lioness Award Winner: Carole Simpson, A True Champion of Inclusion and Community

Carole Simpson, from the QuickLine Lincolnshire Women & Girls' Football League, has been named the 2024 Lioness Award winner.

We are delighted to announce that Carole Simpson, from the QuickLine Lincolnshire Women & Girls' Football League and formerly Greenbank FC Girls, has been named the 2024 Lioness Award winner.

Carole’s incredible dedication to transforming grassroots football and making it more inclusive for girls and women in Lincolnshire has been nothing short of inspirational.

Carole's journey began at Greenbank Junior Football Club, where in just 14 months, she grew the club from having zero girls' teams to an impressive eight teams. Under her leadership, the club also developed 40 Wildcats and 20 Squad Girls, creating opportunities for girls to enjoy football outside of the team structure. Her commitment to inclusion extended beyond the pitch as she launched annual foodbank campaigns, ensuring local families in need received support.

Carole's influence didn’t stop at Greenbank. As the Vice Chair of the Lincolnshire Women & Girls’ League, she has worked tirelessly to make sure every player, coach, and referee feels valued. She plays a key role in organising festivals, cups, and matches, ensuring that over 40 referees are involved in events and taking time to support their development.

Her passion for the game and its wider impact shines through in her relentless drive to help others, whether through advocating for an all-female referee course or helping university students get into coaching.

Beyond football, Carole has turned social media pink for breast cancer awareness when a parent at the club was undergoing treatment, and she has championed men's mental health by appearing on podcasts to spread awareness. She brings kindness and empathy to everything she does, linking football with important community causes like foodbanks, breast cancer awareness, and men's mental health.

Carole is a true example of how football can be a powerful tool for positive change. Her dedication, selflessness, and passion have not only transformed a club but have also impacted the lives of countless families across the Lincolnshire community.

Congratulations to Carole on this well-deserved recognition. She continues to inspire us all with her commitment to making football a more inclusive and supportive space for everyone.
