We are thrilled to announce that Gemma Bell from Lincoln United has been awarded the 2024 Keeping Football Positive Award

We are thrilled to announce that Gemma Bell from Lincoln United has been awarded the 2024 Keeping Football Positive Award in Lincolnshire FA's Grassroots Football Awards.

For over a decade, Gemma has been an invaluable asset to the club and a driving force in making football accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the Lincoln community.

As the Junior Football Director, Gemma has dedicated herself to nurturing the next generation of players. She not only coaches several teams but also oversees the junior section, ensuring that it is regarded as one of the best in Lincolnshire. Gemma’s responsibilities include making sure that coaches are qualified, players are registered, and the teams are operating smoothly. Her attention to detail and commitment to high standards are evident in everything she does.

But Gemma’s contributions extend far beyond her formal roles. She is often found working alongside the grounds team, forking pitches to ensure they are in perfect condition for play. Her hands-on approach exemplifies her dedication to the club and the players. Additionally, Gemma plays a crucial role in securing funding to expand opportunities for local participants, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to making football inclusive and accessible for all.

Gemma has also been instrumental in launching and supporting recreational sessions, including the Lincs Ladies Play initiative and the club's recently formed LGBTQ+ team. She is passionate about creating safe and welcoming environments, ensuring that underrepresented communities feel valued and supported within the sport. Her efforts in this area have not only enhanced the club's reputation but have also changed lives by fostering a sense of belonging for many.

Gemma’s impact on the Lincoln football community is immeasurable. Her commitment is truly inspiring, as she manages to balance her dedication to the club with her full-time job. She has worked tirelessly for ten years, often without seeking recognition or thanks for her hard work. This selflessness speaks volumes about her passion for the game and the people it serves.

In Gemma's words, “Football is more than just a game; it's about community, inclusivity, and creating opportunities for everyone.” Her unwavering belief in these principles has shaped the culture at Lincoln United, making it a place where people can come together, learn, and enjoy the beautiful game.

We invite you to watch our short video celebrating Gemma and her incredible contributions to the club and community. Her journey is a testament to the positive impact that dedicated volunteers like her can have in grassroots football.
