Lincolnshire FA Announce New Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan

The County FA is proud to announce the three-year inclusion strategy

Lincolnshire FA is delighted to officially launch and announce the new, three-year Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP).

The DIAP supports us in refining and further enhancing our approach to inclusion; ensuring that we have a robust, evidence-based, and unified approach to driving EDI within football in Lincolnshire.

The Lincolnshire FA Inclusion Advisory Group (IAG) have agreed upon 5 key objectives that underpin the DIAP and will direct the County FA in ensuring Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are embedded across our Organisation.

Objective 1 – Ensure a Policy framework that is reviewed regularly and ensures the Lincolnshire FA drives ED&I throughout its governance.
Objective 2 – Use of Research and Data in order to underpin and achieve our objectives, including to track and improve the reporting of discrimination and abuse.
Objective 3 – Develop a Wide Portfolio of Inclusive Playing Opportunities
Objective 4 – Develop our Internal and External Workforce to ensure ED&I is driven across the football landscape
Objective 5 – Utilise appropriate marketing and communications to engage with a broad and diverse audience

Professor Sir Jonathan Van-Tam, Chair of the Lincolnshire Football Association said: “I am delighted to be able to present the Lincolnshire Football Association’s three-year Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan.

The development of our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan supports us in refining and further enhancing our approach to inclusion, ensuring that we have a robust, evidence-based, and unified approach to driving EDI within football in Lincolnshire.

I would like to place on record my immense gratitude on all who have supported us to this point, including the Inclusion Advisory Group, the staff team, and all involved in football across Lincolnshire for making the game as safe, welcoming, and inclusive as it can be.

As someone of mixed ethnicity who has lived in the county for most of my life, EDI is a deeply personal and important subject to me. I look forward to seeing this area of work progress over the next three years, as we further strive to tackle discrimination, promote equality, and drive inclusion across all of our activities.”

Angela Westley, Chair of the Lincolnshire Football Association IAG and Inclusion Lead on the Board of Directors, added: “We are pleased to officially launch our Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) which has been developed under the guidance of the Inclusion Advisory Group (IAG).

Our DIAP outlines our priorities to ensure:
1) all aspects relating to everyday business of Lincolnshire FA are fair, accessible and equitable
2) work towards eliminating all forms of discrimination and harassment, and ways to report these, and
3) we reach out to wider and more diverse audiences to increase participation across the county.

We know we have a way to go, but this signifies a big step forward in our commitment to ensure more individuals in Lincolnshire can thrive through a safe and inclusive football experience.”

The Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan has been produced based on the Association’s Diversity Monitoring Report, which compares the demographics of football in Lincolnshire to local, regional and nation averages. The full report (including recommendations) can be found here.
